when faced with the options of either a) coming up with $7,000 extra to pay for Sydney
or
b) staying in boston and graduating a semester early, saving myself approximately $17000 in loans
I've gotta choose staying.
fuck, i guess i was just deluding myself thinking i could go anywhere.
no matter what choice i made, i know i wouldn't be completely happy, but at least way i'll hopefully be a little less fucked when i graduate.
uugghhh, i dont want to let this get to me.

Dear BU,
Can you please tell me if I've been accepted to Sydney yet? Because if not, I have to register for classes THIS SATURDAY and at the mo I'm banking everything on Australia, and kind of need to know if that's not happening.
Please do not royally fuck me over for no apparent reason, since I got all my shit in on time and have been patiently waiting and all that.
Thanks,
Amanda

umm has anyone else heard of/seen "Britain's Missing Top Model"? it's another horrible attempt to capitalize on the recent fashion/modeling/reality tv crazes, except without the mind-numbing wonder that is Ms. Tyra Banks. instead, it has pretty girls with awful disabilities competing against one another to be in a Marie Claire spread.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7Cw3T6M KSI
this. is. terrible. a) capitalizing on disabled young women, b) one girl being concerned that her disability isn't NOTICEABLE ENOUGH? and so many other things through this one clip.
if this weren't a real tv show it'd almost be comical, but since it is I'm just pretty horrified by it.
ADDENDUM: Tavi the 12 year old fashionista? anyone smell a scam? additionally, don't you hate it when you love a band for one reason or another and their first album is amazing, and the second is like a sad, watered-down imitation of the first one done by talentless wanna-bes? yeah, hate that.

What we have here is the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing’s users. As in, they sit on the shelf to make you look smart or well-rounded. Bold the ones you've read, underline the ones you read for school, italicize the ones you started but didn't finish. (NOTE that most of the ones I've italicized I haven't finished because of lack of time and not lack of interest and I DO plan to finish them someday unless I've noted otherwise)

Ellen and I scored a double on Bay State Rd, which is probably the prettiest part of our campus. and we're on the river side, so hopefully out room will have a river view! <3<3<3
so shortly, fare thee well south campus. you have been good to me, but after three semesters, it's time for a change of scenery.
now all i've gotta do is save money and go to london. that first part isn't working so well right now; i've been slacking and spending and only have like $40. but no worries, pay goes up over the summer.
friday afternoon i'm hopping on a plane to disney world. all expenses paid because my mom got her bonus at work and still loves me for some strange reason and wants me to be there. this is one of the best perks of having a little brother still young enough to actively want to do this stuff and have me around too.
by the time i get back i only have six days of classes and then a week to study for finals. shit, sophomore year is OVER. but it's gonna be weird, I know legit like seven people who are all staying here for all/part of the summer.
warmth is gradually approaching, rejoice.

at least it's dealt with, but come on state department, seriously? I can't be the only person in MA with two addresses within the state.

I saw Mika friday night with Berry &Chantal, and it was the MOST FUN ever. Mika is the most infectiously adorable human being on the face of the planet; he obviously loves performing and loves his fans. He loves being a little controversial but still so friendly and cute, a bit of a diva but in the best most entertaining way possible. the minute he walked onstage, everyone started smiling and didn't stop till we left the theater.
the finale was HILARIOUS and soooo awesome.
there were animal costumes, people dancing on stage, CONFETTI, and GIANT BALLOONS.

It was AMAZING and I'd do ANYTHING to go see him again. I'd MARRY that crazy man.
the hangover that is just now going away from later that night, however, is something I could have lived without.

so Ellen took me to the Blonde Redhead concert as an early birthday present last night, and it was AWESOME. the opening band (whose name I can't remember at the mo) was kinda of weird, but I think I liked them. the lead singer chick had maracas, that's all that matters I guess. but blonde redhead was soooo good, they played for a really long time and had a five song encore. the only thing that bothered me was that they chose some really slow/down songs for the encore, so it was kind of like... okay, this is nice, but you ended the actual set on such a high note, there should have been better follow up. but anyway I find the guitarist/male singer strangely attractive... and Ellen and I made friends with some interesting people during the show, it was hilarious.
in short, I have an awesome roommie.
and I get to see MIKA!! with Berry!! in less than two weeks!
honestly, it was a really good night, especially after all the shit I went through Friday, I needed a serious break. it was fun and relaxing, as opposed to my near-breakdown status at the start of the weekend.
now if only I could figure out A) what the hell I'm supposed to be doing for my compsci homework, and B) why the poetry handbook I need for writing is no where to be found anywhere.
